Satan’s Little Helper knows that being a parent is the hardest job in the world. That’s why, when Holly Paterson got in touch and nominated the generous volunteers at the Dunedin Parent’s Centre (DPC), we couldn’t say no to providing a well-earned treat. Holly says the volunteers are key to keeping the centre running: “They’re a hardworking bunch, giving their time to ensure existing, new and expecting parents can meet up and learn about the hardest job they’ll ever face.”
DPC runs playgroups, antenatal classes and parent education classes. It also provides a place where parents can get support. Funding is always tight, and without the volunteers the centre could not keep running. This puts a big strain on the time of those who help, many of whom are busy parents themselves. When Satan’s Little Helper discovered that these awesome parent-helpers would all be in one place at a volunteer meeting, he decided to put on a bit of a treat from HELL to let them know they’re doing a great job. The good folk were able to let their hair down for a bit and have a much needed laugh. “It was a great way to boost morale and inspire all the volunteers to keep working hard. We really appreciate it,” says Holly.
